the only cure for the Monday blues is
varsity blues this cobalt blazer
I’m a sucker for anything cobalt. I once wore a cobalt dress on a date and a guy told me it made my eyes stand out and yeah I fell for that hook, line, and sinker, but the color has stayed with me (unlike that flirtatious jerk). Anyway, when I have been searching for a cobalt blazer for a while now, I found a few at Target, Dillards, and NY&C, but I wasn’t in love with the fit or with the quality. I knew the blazer would be a staple in my wardrobe for years to come so I wanted something comfortable and high quality.
Then I found Of Mercer and ordered one of their Elizabeth tops and after wearing it for a few weeks I knew I needed more Mercer. The Elizabeth top is I-N-C-R-E-D-I-B-L-E. It is incredibly soft, works well with pants and a cardi or under a suit, and best part: it’s machine washable. I now own two colors (grey & topaz) and am looking at the amethyst. I was hunting through the of Mercer site and found the Cobalt Houston Blazer and it was like in the movies when birds fly and angels sing. Okay so it was the dogs barking and squirrels running in terror but same thing right? I ordered it immediately and have worn it multiple times since I hugged it straight out of the box.
The lines are super clean and the material is soft and comfortable. Yes, it’s dry clean only, but I wasn’t expecting a blazer to be machine washable. I love that it’s collarless and there are hooks, not buttons, if you want to close it. It’s structured and simple which means it’s not going to go out of style.
You can see the date dress in question and take a look at my love of cobalt here as a top in my 2017 Black Suit, here mixed in with a dress that I love, and here as a skirt paired with mustard yellow! Also take a moment to appreciate the multitude of hair styles I have tried to rock over the past few years…
PS none of this was sponsored I just realllllllllllllllllllly love of Mercer
